Martha E. Kluger, resident of West Islip

Martha E. Kluger, a resident of West Islip for 28 years, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her daughters Nov. 11, 2007. She was 105 years old.

Mrs. Kluger was born in Sadenitz, Germany

Feb. 26, 1902 to

Armand and Luise

(Schramm) Fiedler. She

married Joseph Kluger June 2, 1930 and for most of their married life, the couple lived in Richmond Hill, New York, where they raised their three daughters. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Richmond Hill and upon moving to West Islip became an active member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Babylon.

Mrs. Kluger was employed in a variety of jobs throughout her life and enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.

She is survived by her daughters, Marie Louise Fleming of Kankakae, Illinois;Evelyn (Lawrence) Macchia of Richmond Hill, and Eleanor Muth of West Islip. Her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive her.

Mrs. Kluger was predeceased by her husband as well as by a grandson, Steven Fleming, and siblings Traugott, Elsa, Meta and Frieda.

She reposed at the Lang Tobia DiPalma Funeral Home in Babylon. Services were held at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, Wed., Nov. 14, 2007, with Rev. Joanne Bond and Vicar Bob Cederstrom officiating.

Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew Gardens, New York, Nov. 16, 2007.
