Our Lady of Consolation announces new director of pastoral care

Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center, West Islip, announces the promotion of Peggy Nixdorf, RN, NACC Chaplin, as the new director of pastoral care.

Nixdorf is a graduate of Suffolk Community College and obtained a bachelor of science degree in health administration from St. Joseph's College. Nixdorf is presently working on her master of arts degree in pastoral services at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception.

Prior to joining Our Lady of Consolation in 2000 she worked at Olsten Health Services as an RN manager of the National Resource Center in Melville. Part of her duties at Our Lady of Consolation is overseeing the Pastoral Care Visitor Program and Eucharistic Ministers. Nixdorf is also working on a new program to develop "Spiritual Care Companions" for Catholic Health Services - LI.

Nixdorf resides in Central Islip with her husband Richard and has three children and seven grandchildren.
