A team from West Islip's Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center's Maternal Child Unit was nominated and awarded the Childbirth Nursing Award from Johnson & Johnson. A grateful patient used an online application from the J & J website to praise the Good Samaritan team who were involved with the labor and delivery of her newborn.

Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of life's most joyous events. Good Samaritan shares in this special time with more than 3,000 maternity patients. The hospital's maternity program, BirthPlace, is becoming the hospital of choice for the region's maternity patients. The hands on care provided by the nursing teams in the unit and the roundthe clock presence of neonatologists bring together the necessary human and technological resources to provide expert care to women giving birth.
