West Islip's Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center patient Rosalba Rochia and her husband Matt were the lucky recipients of a Girl Scout Troop 1239 project. The Copiague Troop 1239 Leader, Cynthia Urban, had troop members donate new clothing, toys and supplies to be given to the first girl born on October 31, 2007. The occasion commemorates the birthday of Juliet Lowe, the founder of Girl Scouts. The troop displayed the gifts in two baskets and Urban and troop member Caitlyn Urban delivered them to the Rochia's room at Good Samaritan on the afternoon of the 31st. Both Mr. & Mrs. Rocchio were there, and were surprised and delighted to receive all of the beautiful gifts in the overflowing baskets. Their daughter, Alessia Maria was born at 1:56 a.m. and weighed seven pounds and was 18 and three quarters inches long. Good Samaritan Hospital's maternity program, the BirthPlace offers all the necessary human and technological resources to provide expert care to woman experiencing high-risk pregnancies and the peace of mind to women whose pregnancies are considered low-risk.
