Scholars in the NEWS Ellice Vassallo, the principal at West Babylon Senior High School in the West Babylon School District announced the names of this year's AP Scholar Award Winners. The College's Board's AP Program offers several AP Scholar Awards to recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and tests. The AP Scholar Award is granted to students who receive grades of three or higher on the three or more AP exams. This year's honorees at West Babylon High are Luisi Battallas, Marc Bertucci, James Bocca, Alexis Britt, Ellen Brooks, George Cruz, Tina David, Dominic Demeri, Samantha Dobshinsky, Nicholas Esposito, Mikel Hoffman, Samantha Janosick, Amit Kumar, Andrea Manning, Matthew Marino, Raymond Mason, Stephanie Peace, Derek Rohrbacher, Robert Samartino, Thomas Shaeffer, Terri Skidmore, Navdeep Sokhey, Stefanie Topping, Julianna Troiano, Mary Tuttle, Patricia Weisenseel, David Wenzel and Karol Zadroga. The AP Scholar with Honors is granted to students who receive an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of three or higher on four or more of these exams. These honorees at West Babylon are Michael Cavalli, Christine Colligan, Jill Geraghty, Peter Mosur, Siera Reicher- Crandall, Thomas Schlageter, Christie Serigano, Lauren Soule, Shannon Trachey and Tomasz Wiszowaty. AP Scholar with Distinction denotes a student who received an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and grades of three or higher on five or more of these exams. The West Babylon students who have earned this honor are Eric Baranek, Robert Castellano, Heather Cleaver, Nicole Krieg, Thomas LaRocca, Allison Matus, Amber Pizzo, Laura Ryan, and Matthew Tuttle.
National AP Scholar is given to students who receive an average grade of at least four on all AP Exams taken and grades of four or higher on eight or more of these exams. This year's West Babylon recipients are Robert Castellano and Nicole Krieg.
