Horsley announces "YouTube" campaign
You-Tube-YouVote-YouWin is a technology and environmental civic education campaign that will allow his office to more effectively inform constituents, hold-down administrative costs, and protect the environment by reducing the amount of paper consumed for communication. Legislator Horsley also invites the public to submit issue videos to YouTube.YouVote@gmail.com for publication on Legislator Horsley's YouTube Channel. The winning issue will be decided by amount of comments received, and then posted on Legislator Horsley's Blog as part of a civic education campaign. The producer of the winning submission will also be invited to the Suffolk County Legislature and awarded a proclamation for their role in 21st century civic education. YouTube officially launched in December 2005 and has attracted users at a meteoric rate. Today, YouTube has 55 million unique users each month and has the 8th largest audience on the Internet. YouTube is mainstream, with an audience that closely mirrors the demographic of the US online population. The submission rules for Legislator Horsley's civic education campaign are simple: 1. Don't be vulgar 2. Don't advertise, 3. Don't be political, 4. Be germane to Long Island issues, and 5. Try to keep submission videos less than one (1) minute in length. Additional rules may be promulgated as necessary, and the administrator reserves the sole right to post and remove comments and/or videos as necessary.
