Babylon 10-year-old Baseball continues winning streak!

Babylon held on to a win in an extremely close game defeating Deer Park 7-6. On Oct. 12, a chilly fall night, Babylon was down 5 players who were out sick and were about to face a tough Deer Park team. Babylon fielded 9 players to start the game immediately taking to the bats and putting 3 runs on the board in the first inning.

Winning and starting pitcher Nicholas Crawford pitched 4 innings; had 7 strikeouts and gave up 1 run. Crawford also offensively went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's.

Deer Park in the 5th inning rallied up 5 runs putting themselves ahead of Babylon. Babylon quickly answered back going ahead 7-6 at the end of the 5th inning. Jack Faccibene, the other slugger of the game went 2 for 3, with 3 RBI's and had 2 defensive putouts.

The game save went to Michael Carlson in the last inning with a center field catch and a throw to the plate, forcing the tagging up runner back to third preventing the tying run.

On Oct. 20, Babylon defeated another West Islip team 24-0. Babylon, the away team, took to the field first. Starting and winning pitcher Zachary Carmody back from sick leave pitched his best game of the season. In 3 innings Carmody pitched a no hitter, throwing an impressive 38 pitches, striking out all 9 batters in a row.

Babylon put runs on the board early and continued scoring each inning. The leading scorers of the game went to Liam Young who hit 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's and scored twice and Nicholas Crawford who hit 2 for 4, with 3 RBI's and scored once. The closing pitcher Kevin Blau pitched 3 innings facing 14 batters and had 4 strikeouts.
