WI Fire Dept. news The West Islip Fire Department released the total number of responses they made to emergency calls for the month of September. The Department responded to 202 calls for September. This is a decrease of almost 30 percent when compared to August, when the West Islip Fire Department responded to 286 calls. The highest volume of calls the Department responded to were EMS calls, where the West Islip Fire Department answered 156 calls. Among the areas the Department assisted with outside of their jurisdiction include- Babylon, Bay Shore and North Babylon. "It is important to note that during the summer months our Department's jurisdiction includes Robert Moses State Park. This month's statistics demonstrate an expected decrease in calls," said Michael Delgado, Chief of the West Islip Fire Department. "This past summer the number of emergency calls the West Islip Fire Department responded to increased, and now that fall is here the volume of calls has gone down considerably. We are very proud of the brave men and women of our Department who handled the increased call volume in a very efficient manner, and who continue to stand ready to help our neighbors at any time."
In addition to the Hamlet of West Islip, the West Islip Fire Department also covers areas of North Bay Shore and portions of Babylon. As part of their efforts to provide assistance with emergencies in other areas, the West Islip Fire Department responded to 34 calls throughout the towns of Islip and Babylon.
