Historical Society Islip Holiday House tour The Historical Society of Islip Hamlet will be hosting its 14th Annual Holiday House Tour, Sunday, December 2, noon to 4 p.m. There will be house tour guides in period clothing welcoming tour participants to a number of Islip's historically and/or architecturally significant homes decorated for the holidayas and one of Islip's fine old churches and antique cars whirling around town. This year's tour will include a reception with live entertainment featuring two musicians, Larry Moser playing the hammeriddulcimer and Mary Magin on the fiddle who will entertain with holiday music. The aroma of fresh pine and home-baked cookies will fill the air. There will be a Chinese auction with gifts donated by local merchants. Tickets can be purchased beginning November 10 in person by visitng Nook & Cranny Collectibles & Gifts located at 3 Grant Ave., Islip or by writing the Society at P.O. Box 601, Islip, New York 11751 between noon and 2:30 p.m. Tickets are a $20 donation per adults, age 16 or older in advance and $25 per adult on the day of the event. All tickets are non-refundable and the tour will run despite weather conditions. All proceeds from this year's Annual Holiday House Tour will go toward the Society's scholarship fund and enable the Society to help with school programs and field trips that are of a historic nature for the students to enjoy.
