Suffolk County Police Officer Kathy Waithe visited Lindenhurst High School to talk about law enforcement. As a part of the career, business, and law curriculum, guest speakers come into the school to discuss their careers and give students the opportunity to learn about various careers.

Police Officer Waithe was animated and engaging. She spoke about her career in law enforcement and gave real-life scenarios. For example, she asked students about "when a police officer should pull the trigger," which provoked discussions on ethics, legality, and self-defense.

She talked about life in the academy and how rigorous some of the requirements are to become a police officer. Students who participated in the discussions were wide-eyed and excited. Officer Waithe answered questions from the students at the end.
