Dorothy Kiesel, 88, longtime Babylon resident

When former Babylonian Dorothy Elizabeth Kiesel was not entertaining loved ones she could be found on the golf course, at the bowling alley or fishing on the family boat. An avid athlete and loving homemaker, 88-year- old Kiesel died October 1, 2007 in Fort Meyers, Florida.

A Babylon High School graduate who lettered in all sports available to women at the time, she moved to Florida with her husband Hilbert. After taking up golf, she earned the Title of Women's Champion at the Fort Meyers County Club, the Whiskey Creek County Club and the Lake Lawn County Club in Florida.

Mrs. Kiesel was a world traveler who went to Europe, Egypt, Mexico and Scandinavia and enjoyed her summer home called "Willow Point" on Captree Island with her husband and her family.

While in Florida, she threw annual "shack parties" at her stilt house in Pine Island Sound and would have boat parties on their "Kiesel Fleet" for all her friends. Most of all she loved her family, according to those who knew her.

Mrs. Kiesel leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Hilbert V.; her children: Dorothy Lillian Kiesel Poll and her husband George of Fort Myers Florida and Franklin, North Carolina, Hilbert D. and his wife Alene of Franklin, North Carolina and Thomas F. and his wife Ruth of Fort Myers, Florida; her grandchildren who

called her "Boom": Kristen O'Halloran and her husband Sean, Jarrett and his wife Kim, Conrad, Hilary and Shannon Dorsey and her husband David; her great grandchildren: Katelyn O'Halloran, Caroline O'Halloran, Cameron O'Halloran, Connor Ryan, Vincent Rohl and Brooks Hilbert Dorsey; her sister-in-laws: Ann Rohl and Linda Rohl of Babylon, Lillian Wang, Cecilia and Joan of Fort Meyers, Florida; her brother-inlaws: Deacon and Mrs. Charles Kiesel of Fort Myers Beach, Florida; her caregiver and friend, Julia Woolbright; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents: Martha and Frank Rohl; her brothers: Henry Rohl and Judge Kenneth K. Rohl; and her brother-in-laws: George, Donald and Theodore Wang.

She reposed at the Chapel of Harvey- Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Home in Fort Myers, Florida on October 4, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Cecelia's Catholic Church, Ft. Myers, on October 5, 2007 conducted by Father Stan Dombrowski, followed by private interment.
