North Babylon Schools to host health forum

The North Babylon community is invited to join Assemblyman Bob Sweeney, local dignitaries and a distinguished panel of education, health, design and environmental experts as the North Babylon School District hosts Greening Schools for Healthy Children: A Community Forum.

This event will take place on Tuesday, October 30, 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at North Babylon High School, 1 Phelps Ln., North Babylon. The forum will discuss numerous ways in which our schools save energy, become more environmentally friendly, healthy and "green"!

Specific forum topics include an explanation of Healthy and High Performance School, an exciting new design manual for new construction and major renovation from the New York State Education Department and NYSERDA, and New York State's new law for healthier and greener cleaning products for schools.

In addition to the North Babylon School District, program sponsors include: Assemblyman Robert Sweeney, the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, the Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition, Mount Sinai Children's Environmental Health Center, Citizen's Campaign for the Environment, CSEA, Neighborhood Network, New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, New York State United Teachers, New York State Apollo Alliance, New York State PTA, New York Superintendents of Buildings and Grounds Association, Prevention is the Cure, and the Sierra Club. For more information about this community forum, please contact Stephen Boese at 212-482-0204 or via email at sboese@healthyschools.org.
