Helping Hands Charity accepting donations October 17 Helping Hands is once again joining hands with all of you in its mission to service the underprivileged children of Suffolk County. Please take some time to participate in one of the three Helping Hands Programs demonstrating our concern for all the children not as fortunate. Program #1 - Fill a decorated shopping bag with your best last years clothes to make a "new" wardrobe for the delight of another person your sex and size. Label the bag accordingly. Think "head to toe" and try to include a dress outfit for the holiday season. Rather than drop clothes in a drop box, someone will feel cared about when you spend time and TLC preparing your donation! Everyone in the family can participate. Even ask the grandparents and friends to get involved. The group also brings clothing to battered women's shelters! Program #2 - It's simple! Donate last year's Halloween costume! Parents would never have the money for a special costume that will bring so much joy to a child and a memory of the special Halloween you provided. Think about that! Program #3 - If you can't do the above, please put ribbon, candy and a note on a small stuffed animal. Folks of all ages in local soup kitchens love to know they are thought about! It will brighten someone's day.
You can drop off your items Wednesday, October 17, 9:30 a.m. at the American Legion Post 1738 Union Blvd., West Islip.
