Babylon Panthers 5th grade football team wins 19-0 game The Babylon 5th grade football team went on the road last Sunday, September 23, facing Half Hollow Hills. Both teams went into the third game 2-0. Babylon winning the toss; defer and start with defense. The quick hard, hitting Babylon Panther defense pushed back Hills to its 30-yard line, forcing them to punt on their first drive. Babylon's Thomas McHugh back to receive; takes the ball to the wide side and quickly reverses and runs the ball in for a 57- yard punt return touchdown. Hills second drive is quickly turned over by a hard tackle and fumble recovery by linebacker Dylan Dreher. Quarter back Henry Brunjes starts Babylon's first offensive drive. Second play into the drive, wing back Thomas McHugh takes the pitch. Following half back Zachary Carmody, who opens up a lane by taking an outside linebacker off his feet, McHugh runs for a 33-yard touchdown. Hills starts their next offensive drive, pushing their way down the field. Babylon on a blitz, forces a fumble in the backfield that is recovered by defensive end Henry Brunjes. Hills defense then tries to protect its outside but are fooled by the Babylon offense that runs up the middle, using powerhouse fullback Kyle Buser who runs for several first downs. Hills defense then shifts, showing linebacker blitz. Babylon reading the play, fakes up the middle and pitches to Zack Carmody who runs in for an 8-yard touchdown. Babylon gets the extra point going to the air with Henry Brunjes passing to wingback James Marron. With a short time remaining in the second quarter, Babylon's linebacker Steven Cavaliere forces and recovers Hills 4th fumble. The end of the third quarter and into the fourth turns into a back-andforth defensive game. The Babylon defense, giving it their all, ends the game with defensive linemen John Botto and Matthew Lauri blasting through Hills' offense with nose guard Alex Turi sacking the quarterback.
