Sullo tribute raises $10,000 for BBCC

The Sullo family and friends pose along with a photo copy of the check issued to the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition.
A year ago, Kay Sullo, who was a dedicated volunteer for the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition (BBCC) passed away. Because of her long close relationship with the BBCC, as a tribute to the love of a wonderful mother and devoted wife, the Sullo family decided to stage a Fourth of July block party in North Babylon, as a fundraiser for the organization. Her husband Roy, Sr. and their grown children, Kathleen Lutz and Christine Centrone and son, Roy, Jr. believed it would be a fitting acknowledgement for one who cared so much for others. Along with Roy Jr.'s wife Frances and numerous friends and neighbors, the day's events raised over $10,000. Despite miserable weather, hundreds turned out for a day of raffles, a Chinese auction, a luminary service and other activities. The proceeds will be used to support the BBCC's many programs. To reach the BBCC, call 631-893-4110.
