Local Scholars Make the News
•Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts awarded degrees to the following local residents in May: Elizabeth C. Wyllie, of Babylon, received a bachelor of arts in archaeology and anthropology; Joseph Chambers, of West Babylon, received a bachelor of arts in anthropology; Rania Hito of West Islip received an M.D. in medicine and Dana S. Rauch received a bachelor of science in graphic design and a bachelor of science in communication. •Named to the dean's list at Boston University for the spring semester are Elizabeth C. Wyllie of Babylon, Meghan J. McHenry of West Babylon and Alexandra Desgaines and Dana S. Rauch, both of West Islip. •Lisa A. Savastano of North Babylon and Christina M. Sofio of West Islip, were named to the dean's list at Binghamton University's College of Community and Public Affairs, Binghamton, New York, for the spring semester. •Named to the dean's list of Binghamton University's Harpur College of arts and sciences for the spring semester are the following local residents: From Babylon is Angela M. Orlando; from North Babylon are William L. Harrigan and Samina Hasan; from West Babylon are Angela Cardaci, Jessica R. Dinkel, Kristina M. King; Michelle L. Parks and Jackie A. Senz; from Deer Park are Katie Hwang, Vikki L. Lastella and Adam Morelli; from Lindenhurst is Sarah M. Constantinou and from West Islip are Nicholas J. Genova; Heather G. O'Gara and Ashley N. Schleimer. •Julisa E. Gonzalez, of Deer Park, has been awarded a merit scholarship to attend the State University of New York at Oswego in the fall. •Ryan Thomas O'Connor, of Babylon, graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire. He majored in psychology. He is the son of Robert J. and Catherine M. O'Connor. •Jason Harty, of Babylon, received a bachelor of science in criminal justice from the College of Business of Johnson & Wales University, Providence, Rhode Island. •Shari M. Gottlieb, of West Babylon, was named to the dean's list of Binghamton University's School of Management for the spring semester. •Named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York are the following local residents: Joanna M. DeMartino and Jessica Wong of Deer Park and Kristen A. Aliperti, Brittany D. Epifano, Julie Serigano and Kerrilyn Weiss, all of West Babylon. •Catherine Rose Carbonaro, of Babylon Village, will enter St. John's University School of Law in the fall. She has attended Northeastern University and Stony Brook University and graduated summa cum laude. •Lisa Marie Bartenback, of West Islip, graduated from the College of Saint Rose, Albany with a bachelor of science degree in childhood and special education. Linda Domanico, of Lindenhurst, received a certificate of advanced study from the school. •Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York has announced its dean's list for the spring semester. Named to the list at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management are Lindsay Barhold and Megan McKenna, both of Babylon. Named to the University's College of Visual and Performing Arts dean's list are Brandon Hodges of Babylon, Jessica Ambos of West Babylon and Jessica Bues and Sara Bues of Lindenhurst. •Jeffrey Bassen, of Babylon and Patricia Arend and Frank Domnisch of North Babylon were named to the dean's list at the University at Buffalo for the spring semester. •The following local residents will attend the State University of New York at Oswego as freshmen: From Deer Park are Joseph A. Ciuffo, Julisa E. Gonzalez, Jessica Harman, John P. Sexton, Alex R. Wertheim and Mary Cochran; from Lindenhurst are Zachary D. Outsen, Steven M.Imhof and Kelly O'Connor; from West Islip is William F. Filosa and from Wyandanch is Jessica L. Norris. Timothy Goodwin has reserved a place as a transfer student for the fall semester. •Craig J. Morgan, of West Islip, was named to the dean's list of Binghamton University's Watson School of Engineering & applied Science for the spring 2007 semester. •The following Deer Park residents received bachelor of science degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York at the May 19 commencement: Anupa Mariam George received a degree in chemical engineering and Ankit Pravin Kapadia received a degree in biology. •West Babylon residents Jessica R. Dinkel and Michelle L. Parks, each received bachelor's degree from Harpur college of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University, State University of New York in May.
