Deer Park HS orchestra public concert set for October 4 Deer Park's High School Orchestra will be performing with world-renowned musician Mark Wood of the multi-platinum-selling symphonic rock group Trans-Siberian Orchestra. A special concert for the community will be held on Thursday, October 4, p.m. at Deer Park High School. Wood, lead violinist and string conductor, has created a production entitled Electrify Your Strings which will give Deer Park's talented musicians the opportunity to play music composed by Wood as well as experience his solo compositions. His series of music education programs at Deer Park will facilitate alternative teaching methods into their musical curriculum. The day of the concert Wood, students, and high school Orchestra Director Kathryn Attard will engage in an all-day rehearsal to prepare for the evening concert. An event enjoyable for all age groups, the concert will take place in the Deer Park High School auditorium (Falcon Place, in Deer Park). Ticket prices are $10. and can be purchased at the door.
This concert and collaboration were made possible thanks to a generous donation from Deer Park businessman Dominic Melvia. All ticket proceeds will directly benefit the school district and their endeavor to purchase new instruments for the music department.
