Babylon's 10-year-old Little League wins District 34 Title in tight game

Babylon 10-year-olds win Title
Babylon's 10-year-old summer baseball little league team had an impressive tournament season. Their chant, "Babylon hits," proved to be true. They slugged their way into the championship scoring 102 runs with only 42 runs against them.

With incredible team effort, Babylon battled hard in the regular season, earning them the right to play in the District 34 Silver Medal Bracket. Their play-off rounds were even tougher, facing the first place team, Huntington HTV A&E and the undefeated Half Hollow Hills American Team. With an incredible upset to both these teams, Babylon made it to the championship finals.

At 3 p.m., August 11th, at Copiague's Tanner Park, Babylon battled against the North Babylon White team for the District 34 Silver Bracket Championship. In an incredible nail-biting game, both teams played their hearts out.

"It was like watching a subway series between the Yankees and Mets," said one observer. "The hitting, pitching and fielding were incredible."

In an extremely close game, Babylon led 5 to 4 in the final inning. However, North Babylon had last licks and fought hard to score. Babylon held onto their one run lead with the help of a great out- field catch, an incredible infield diving play to get a runner out at third and an impressive strike out to end the game and the season.

Throughout the season, every Babylon player earned MVP status and game balls, for outstanding performance, from their respective teams.
