Island Yacht Club annual of Mayor's Cup Race be held September 16

The Village of Babylon and the Long Island Yacht Club announced that the 23rd annual sailing of the Mayor's Cup Race is open to all auxiliary keel boat owners on the Great South Bay. In order to include as many participants as possible, there will be three divisions: Division 1 - boats with handicap less than 200, Division II - boats with handicap of 200 or more and Division III - cruising boats, non-racing skippers, working sails and character boats.

The contestants will sail a nine-mile course from Babylon to Bay Shore and return. The finish line will be south of the Village.

Entry forms may be picked up at the Long Island Yacht Club, 307 Little East Neck Rd. South, Babylon. Complete racing instructions will be available the morning of the race from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Yacht Club.

This annual yacht event attracts 25 to 30 boats per year. The Long Island Yacht Club docks and facilities will be available to participants on the day of the race. Friends and families of crew members are welcome to attend the trophy presentation on the Club patio.
