Farmingdale State recognizes Lindenhurst resident

Richard Hume of Lindenhurst was recognized for 25 years of service to Farmingdale State College at an awards ceremony and luncheon held on Thursday, May 17.

Hume started at the college in 1982 as a college accountant in the Business Office. Today he is the College's comptroller in the Division of Administration and Finance.

Colleagues speak very highly of Hume. One co-worker said, "Rich is a valued member of administration and finance who always has time to answer questions from colleagues. He raises snakes in his spare time and has coached FSC basketball."

Hume earned his BS from Brooklyn College and his MBA from New York Institute of Technology.

Also recognized was Louis Scala, a Farmingdale State College alumnus and a professor in the aviation department who has 25 years of service to the campus. A Babylon resident, Professor Scala has served as assistant to the dean of the School of Engineering Technologies and as acting chair of aviation. He is the faculty advisor

of the Christian Fellowship club. He is active in governance and is well liked by his students.

An awards ceremony and luncheon was held on Farmingdale's campus in Knapp Hall on Thursday, May 17.
