Deer Park High School to host Emergency Preparedness Drill

The Deer Park School District, in conjunction with the First Precinct of the Suffolk County Police, will conduct an Emergency Preparedness Drill on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Deer Park High School, beginning at approximately 9 a.m.

This drill will entail a simulation of an emergency situation, involving district staff and emergency responders. The goal is twofold: to provide Suffolk County Police with an opportunity to train in the event of a real threat while also educating and preparing district staff on the proper procedures and how best to react when faced with a real crisis in a school building. The drill is expected to conclude sometime in the early afternoon.

Residents in the vicinity of Deer Park High School should take note that this exercise can give the appearance of a real crisis. Motorists are encouraged to refrain from driving on Falcon Place (formerly Rockaway) and roads in the immediate vicinity of the high school during the time of the drill.
