DMV closes Amityville office The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office on Route 110 in is now closed and a new state-ofthe art office has opened in its place in Massapequa, Commissioner David J.Swarts announced this week. "Serving the motoring public of Long Island in the most convenient and efficient manner is a consistent goal of the DMV," said Swarts. "This new office will integrate newer technologies along with a better configuration to ensure improved service for the public in the area and will not be an inconvenience to drivers since the location is in roughly the same area as the old Amityville office." The DMV is at 927 Carmans Road in the Carmans Plaza shopping center and opened Monday, Aug. 27. The Amityville office closed after more than 20 years of service on Friday, August 24th at 4:00 p.m., its regular closing time. The new office is located less than 5 minutes away and is easily accessible from both Sunrise Highway and the Southern State Parkway, said state officials. The new state office offers a large parking area, something the Amityville office lacked. Still offering all the services of the former Amityville office, the Massapequa facility will also feature the versatile numbering system, known as QMatic, to serve our customers in comfort as well as efficiency. The location also offers the convenience of the Carmans Plaza Shopping Center with stores and places to eat surrounding the new office.
Other offices in Suffolk are located in Hauppauge, Huntington, Medford, Port Jefferson and Riverhead. For more information on office locations, hours of operation and potential closings, please visit the DMV Internet Office at: www.nysdmv.com.
