Local resident receives Professionals Mentor Award

Laurie J. Bloom
Laurie J. Bloom, of Brightwaters, director of marketing and communications at Rivkin Radler LLP, has received the Public Relations Relations Professional of Long Island's (PRPLI) Mentor Award. This award is given to public relations practitioners who are an inspiration and source of encouragement to others in the field and who exemplify the tenets of PRPLI - Advance, Learn, Share and Network.

Bloom's work has been recognized by many professional and charitable organizations. Most recently, she was given a "partner in justice" award from Nassau/Suf- folk Law Services. In 2006, she was selected as one of Long Island's 50 Most Influential Women in Business by Long Island Business News.

A frequent present, Bloom has served as a keynote speaker at Hofstra University's induction of Alpha Pi Eta Honor Society members. She has also addressed college and high school students on careers in communications.

Bloom is an adjunct professor at Hofstra University's School of Communication. She also serves as first vice president of Hofstra University Alumni Organization's Executive Council and its products and services committee.

Bloom in an executive board member of Pet Peeves, Inc., "the voice for Long Island pets," and is a member of the Advisory Counsel of Nassau/Suffolk Law Services. She is a past president of Public Relations Professionals of Long Island, and has served as a board member of the International Association of Business Communicators' Long Island Chapter.
