Michelina Pastore, resident of W. Babylon

Longtime West Babylon resident Michelina "Lee" Pastore was the consummate mother who dedicated her life to her family and her community. She died July 26, 2007 in Rexford, New York, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 79- years-old.

Born to Romolo and Domenica Crescenzi, Mrs. Pastore married William J. Pastore in 1947 and spent her life taking an active role in positively shaping her own children as well as other people's, as a volunteer at school, church and in the community. She lived on Herzel Boulevard in West Babylon for more than 40 years.

After her children were grown, she worked as a financial consultant for CitiGroup in Melville for 15 years before her retirement.

In 2005 she relocated to Coburg Village in Rexford, New York and was active in Village activities, according to her daughter, Ann.

"My mom was always active and enjoyed her life. She liked to spend time playing cards with her neighbors or teaching things to her grandchildren," said Ann who said when she was growing up they enjoyed crabbing, fishing and sailing on the Great South Bay.

Mrs. Pastore leaves behind her children: Laraine Longhurst and her husband Richard of Glenville, New York, Ann and her husband Michael Buckman of Albany, New York and William J. and his wife Karen of Levittown, New York; her grandchildren: Gina and Daniel Longhurst, Kristen Norwark, Benjamin and Jonathan; her sister, Louise Senzamici of Palm Bay, Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, William J. in 1999.

She reposed at the Noce Funeral Home, West Babylon, on July 27, 2007. A Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church in West Babylon followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on August 25, 2007 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 185 Swaggertown Road, Scotia, NY 12302.
