Fifth grade students in the gifted program at West Babylon Junior High School competed in the five-month Mathematical Olympiads. Members of the group were awarded the Certificate of Meritorious Achievement in recognition for placing in the top 20 percent of thousands of teams from 32 countries. Two West Babylon students tied for first place and took home trophies for their outstanding performances. Additionally, members of the gifted class won five silver pins and 13 embroidered patches.
