Stern declares Miss New York Day

Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD declared July 14th 2007 as "Miss New York Day" in Suffolk County in recognition of the re-location of the Miss New York Pageant to Dix Hills.

Miss New York, part of the Miss America Organization, held its annual pageant at the Dix Hills Center for the Performing Arts at Five Towns College. "The Miss New York organization provides the opportunity for hundreds of accomplished young women to compete, earn scholarships and perform valuable community service," Legislator Stern said. "It is an honor to have such a prestigious event held here in Dix Hills and I am proud to participate in the first Miss New York Pageant held on Long Island and to congratulate Five Towns College and the Dix Hills Center for the Performing Arts, as well as the new Miss New York, Elisabeth Baldanza and all the participants for a job well done."
