Historical La Grange to undergo renovations
by Carolyn James

When the Babylon Rotary Club officials received a letter last week that they could no longer hold their weekly meetings at La Grange Inn in West Islip because the restaurant was closing, rumors began to fly. Responding quickly to them was one of the owners of La Grange, Rick Olivieri.

"We're renovating," said Olivieri, "not closing."

Those renovations are due to begin in January but the final plans are not completed and the owners are working with the Town of Islip to acquire the proper approvals.

"We don't know how long it will take to complete the renovations," said Olivieri. "That will depend on the Town of Islip and how quickly they move on our paperwork."

Islip Town Councilwoman Pamela Greene said, "the LaGrange is a signature location and Town officials are very concerned and very interested in maintaining it within that community."
