National Circus project comes to E.W. Bower in Lindenhurst to educate students

The National Circus Project came to Lindenhurst's E.W. Bower Elementary School to educate students on juggling, balancing, plate-spinning and a wide range of basic circus skills. The organization sent a team of professional circus artists to perform an entertaining circus assembly show, where they used student and teacher volunteers.

Following the performance, the artists did a hands-on workshop for some of the third grade classes. They taught students juggling with colorful scarves and tennis balls, balancing plate-spinning, and the use of devil sticks. They showed Bower students the traditions and fun of the circus.

"The kids really loved learning how to do the various circus acts," exclaimed Principal Donna Smawley.

Shown in the photo, Bower third graders learn how to perform circus acts.
