Sean Trainor, former Babylonian and distance runner, at 48
by Tiffany Elliott

Longtime Babylon Village resident and loving family-man Sean Michael Trainor died suddenly July 13, 2007, the victim of a hit and run in Indialantic, Florida where he moved two months ago. The loving husband and father was 48 years old.

Born November 3, 1958 to John J. and Irene P. in Mid-Island Hospital, he was a 1976 Babylon High School graduate who worked as a New York City Corrections Officer at Rikers Island for several years. Most recently he worked as a manager at the Post Office Cafe in Babylon before he moved back to Florida where he had lived from 1996 to 2004.

Mr. Trainor was an avid sports devotee and runner who competed in the NYC marathon and local races and was a huge Jimmy Buffet fan.

Most of all, according to his family, he was a loving family man.

"The world has lost a respectful, courteous and gentle soul who was loved by many people," said his brother Kevin.

Mr. Trainor leaves behind his wife of six-anda half years, Linda; his daughter, Tara Garlasco; his parents: Irene and John; his siblings: Kevin and his wife Dorothy and John; his sister, Sharon Trainor-Hadmack; his brother-in-law, John Sullivan and his wife Robin; his sister-in-law, Debbie Horan and her husband Michael; his father in law, John Sullivan; his nieces and nephews: Molly, Megan, Kelly, Michael, Kevin and Tyler; as well as many friends in New York and Florida.

He reposed at the Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida on July 17 and 18, 2007 followed by private cremation.
