Babylon's Class of '77 reunion weekend August 3

On Friday, August 3, reunion weekend for Babylon's Class of '77 kicks in BayShore. At 7:30 p.m., the Boulton Center presents "Back to Babylon" a critically acclaimed, one-person, one-act, comedic-drama set in the New York suburban town of Babylon, and written and performed by Babylon native, Gregg Tome'. The event is open to the public and also features one of Babylon High School's own singer/ songwriter, Erich Glaubitz and his band, Yellowfly. The band will perform a 40 -minute set, following Back To Babylon. You can expect a few good ole' fashion rock 'n roll classics, and a few original songs as well. Yellowfly is Erich Glaubitz on vocals and guitar, Pat Castania on bass and backing vocals and Mike Ratti on drums and backing vocals.

Back To Babylon is loosely based on animated personalities the actor/playwright encountered while living in Babylon during his teens in the late 1970s. Characters include Billy-B, Nanzo K'Manzo, Furaha,Vito, Old Man Hi-Hello, Coach, Cesspool Man, and Manny, to name a few. Set on the eve of one of the character's 10-year high school reunion, the character takes the audience on an entertaining journey, reminiscent of the time. It is both introspective and fun! Gregg Tomé weaves his characters in a convincing and eloquent way. Tomé has performed his one-act play from West Palm Beach to Hollywood, and recently during the New York Fringe Festival.

"We are delighted that Gregg Tomé has chosen to support the Babylon High School Class of 1977 during our 30th year High School reunion," said Catherine R. Laporte, an organizer. "No matter where you live in the world, Babylon Village always holds a dear place in our hearts and is a fantastic place to grow up."

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Babylon Junior Senior High School, when the Class of 1977 gives back to its beloved school with a special gift. The event is open to other BHS classes and to the general public. The night is hosted by 106.1 BLI morning show personality, Randy; and theater goers will enjoy WBAB 102.3 and WBLI 106.1 goodies in the lobby before the show.

Gregg Tomé film credits include The Fan with Robert De Niro, Mrs. Doubtfire with Robin Williams, Who Shot Patakango?, Ocean Drive, and How To Mend A Broken Heart. Guest starring credits include Lois and Clarke, The Adventures of Superman and One Life To Live. Gregg Tomé is the brother of classmate, Billy Tome.

Following the performance, the Class of 1977 heads back to Babylon, for a meet and greet at local hotspot, Lilly Flanagans Pub, where several BHS classes will rekindle and reunite. The reunion dinner dance takes place the following night on Saturday, August 4th at the Venetian Yacht Club.

Classmates will come from Florida, California, Maine, Arizona, Virginia, Oregon, Illinois, Connecticut and Pennsylvania and more! The reunion committee is Valerie McPherson, John Brabant, Deborah Klein Pieper, Joanne Campisi Brabant, Christopher Cox, Pam Leitch Manfra, Kathleen Lappin Wurgler, Alice Oneil Acevedo, Gerald Izzo, Lisa Nabor Cowan, Peter Gorman, William Tome, Jr., Patricia Baker, Denise Adams Bunker, Alecia Boskin, Jane Holgan Weber, Patrice Mackesy Conlin and Catherine R.
