Minnie Weigold celebrates her 103rd Birthday

West Islip's Our Lady of Consolation's resident Wilhelmina (Minnie) Weigold recently celebrated her 103rd birthday. Weigold was born June 15, 1904, in New York City and later moved to Long Island City and Corona. Weigold and her family finally settled on Long Island, in North Babylon. She was married 45 years to Walter Weigold, now deceased, and has one son, Kenneth Weigold. Weigold is the proud grandmother of six and a great-grandmother of 12. She worked as a teacher's aid in the Deer Park school district teaching kindergarten until she was 90 years old. The only thing stopping her from continuing to work was her inability to drive.

Weigold is currently a resident of Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center, where she's the life of the party, never missing a beat. When asked about her secret to living a long-healthy life, Weigold said, "I never keep quiet, I'm always on the go."
