C.B.J. Snyder, grandfather of Shirley Skeffington and Libby Orr was a renowned architect in New York City where he was the superintendent of schools buildings, starting back in 1892. Mr. Hayward designed approximately 500 schools, with some two or three hundred still standing. Now Dr. Jean Addington, who teaches English in New York City, is in the process of writing a book about Mr. Snyder and his remarkable career. Mrs. Addington was able to learn about Mr. Hayward from his granddaughters when they accompanied her on a trip into the city last week to view some of his beautiful buildings. Shirley lives in Babylon Village and Libby is a West Islip resident. Mr. Hayward lived here in the Village on Araca Road, or "Dalton Point"P as it was known back in the 1930s and 1940s.
