Troop 319 of Babylon Village holds book drive

Brownie Troop 319, of the Babylon Village Girl Scouts, held a very successful book drive in early Spring. They collected more than 1,000 books. Pictured are the girls sorting the books by age category. Benefiting organizations included the Friends of the Babylon Public Library, the Brentwood Headstart Program, and the Facilitated Enrollment Program (for families applying for state-subsidized health insurance) run by the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council. As each meeting of Troop 319 includes the reading of a book related to that meeting's project, the book drive helped further promote literacy importance among the girls, as well as the importance of helping others in the community.

Shown, left to right, are McKayla Wilson, Sarah Logan, Olivia Maldonado, Megan Genova, Emily Trama, and Sophia Logan. Missing from the photo is Brianna Seccafico.
