Vincent Reisen, former W.I. resident and car mechanic

Longtime West Islip resident Vincent O. Reisen, who owned and operated the South Shore Garage in Babylon, died June 5, 2007 in Spring Hill, Florida where he had lived for the past six years. Born in Bellport, Mr. Reisen and his wife lived on Secatogue Lane East in West Islip for 35 years.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, he operated the Fire Island Avenue garage where he specialized in Volkswagens until his retirement in 1999 at which time he jumped in his motor home and traveled America. According to his wife, they traveled in all U.S. states by motor home and even ventured into Nova Scotia, by way of Maine.

"He loved to travel and some of his favorite places we went were Bermuda and Mexico," said his wife of nearly 45 years, Brenda who added he loved to sail and take care of his yard.

"He was just a loving, private man who just loved to be with his family and his dogs," added his wife who said he was a dedicated parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Spring Hill, Florida.

Mr. Reisen leaves behind his wife, Brenda J. of Spring Hill, Florida; his daughters: Kimberly Anne and Sharon Allison; his siblings: William, Philip, Richard and Barbara; his grandchildren: Ashley Noel, Heather Anne, Nicole Angelique, Reisen Nicholas, Maximillian James and Alora Danielle. Arrangements were handled by the Turner Funeral & Cremation Center, U.S. 19 Chapel in Spring Hill, Florida. Amemorial service with military honors will be held July 13, 2007 at the Turner Funeral & Cremation Center.
