The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) recently presented the Guilds of Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with a statewide Auxiliary Recognition Certificate. The recognition acknowledged individual auxiliaries for their contributions to their health care facilities and their communities.

From March 2006 to March 2007, the Guilds of Good Samaritan raised more than $300,000 for the Medical Center. Funds were raised through bake sales, vendor sales, the annual holiday fair and the Volunteer run Thrift Shop and Gift Shop.

In addition to providing valuable services, these activities help raise awareness of the prominent role of health care facilities in the larger community. Statewide, more than 230 health care auxiliaries are affiliated with HANYS, which serves as the key statewide advocate for more than 550 non-profit and public hospitals, health systems, nursing facilities, home care agencies, hospice and adult day care programs, and other related health care facilities throughout New York State.

Guild Central Council President Terese Weber stated, "We are proud to receive this prestigious recognition from HANYS. The Guilds of Good Samaritan are a dedicated group of individuals who provided more than 56,000 hours of volunteer service to the Medical Center in 2006."
