Commerce Bank announces recipients of American Dream Scholarship

Commerce Bank recently announced the recipients of its annual American Dream Scholarship program, which awards $1,000 to local graduating seniors who achieve both academic excellence and serve the community.

In our area, Commerce Bank gave scholarships to two local residents.

David McGinley, a Bay Shore resident, graduated from Bay Shore High School. McGinley plans to attend the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, and major in business and finance. Throughout high school, McGinley was active in the National Honor Society and lacrosse.

Also awarded was Jill Schackner, a Dix Hills resident, who graduated from Half Hollow Hills West High School. Schackner plans to attend Columbia University: Barnard College in Manhattan and major in liberal arts. Throughout high school, Schackner was active in the jazz vocal ensemble, and she was president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and vice president of the Huntington Young Democrats.
