Babylon Unit 94 holds installations of officers
On Wednesday, June 20, members joined the VA & R Chairman Marilyn Reiter to prepare and serve a hot luncheon to the veterans of Northport VA Hospital following a day of fishing aboard Captain Eddie's fishing boat out on the great South Bay. On Sunday, June 24 Shannon O'Malley, a junior at Babylon High School boarded a bus along with 20 girls from Suffolk County and departed for Brockport, New York for a week of Girl State Programs sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. While on campus at SUNY Brockport, Shannon will join girls from all across New York State to participate in a program where she will learn of our governmental system, how it works, get to write and pass bills, campaign for office and hold elections. The week finishes with a graduation ceremony where the results of the elections were announced and one girl was elected as Girl State Governor and two girls were chosen to be candidates to the National Level as Girl State Senators. A reminder to all members that your dues for 2008 are due. Please remit the dues to Marilyn Reiter as soon as possible. The deadline for "Early Bird" renewals is September 1. Seniors dues are $15 and Junior dues are $4. If you are interested in becoming a members contact Reiter or Babylon Post 94 for information. Get well wishes go to PP Millie Wheeler who is home recuperating following heart surgery.
