E.W. Bower students in Lindenhurst dance with "Hip Pickles"

Lindenhurst's E.W. Bower elementary students and teachers danced and grooved to the beat of Hip Pickles, an award-winning percussion ensemble, as a part of a PTAsponsored Arts-in-Education program.

Students learned about many different percussion instruments, from the snare drum and tambourine, to the maracas and cow bell. The Hip Pickles ensemble immediately entertained the audience with their infectious beats and singing. E.W. Bower students and teachers clapped, stomped their feet, and sang along the entire show. There was even a Conga line.

Hip Pickles told students, "Like the different instruments you see here, people are different. Being different is a good thing. When we play the different instruments together, it makes a beautiful sound. Just treat others the way that you want to be treated."

Shown in the photo above are fourth grade Bower Girls, left to right, Casey Hilly, Brianna Doran, Brittany Snyder and Tavia Landry enjoying Hip Pickles.
