Lindenhurst High School Robotics Club prevails

The Lindenhurst High School Robotics Club was at Hofstra University recently for the annual regional competition held by FIRST: For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

Between the students' hard work and the guidance of their mentors Thomas Graham, Neil Heft and advisors John Slokovitz and Jean Jacobs the team prevailed. The students were assisted by Kevin Kaler and Joseph

Rutigliano.

The team had to build a working robot in six weeks which also had to pass a rigorous inspection. The robot had six grueling rounds on Friday. Each round was _ hour apart and repairs had to be quickly and properly completed to compete in the next round. Everyone pitched together and displayed true team work. Driver Brandon Rutigliano and operator Dean Gouramanis performed in the final round.

The team came from 28th position to finish up in fourth place. The team also had scouts out throughout the competition taking notes, pictures and interviewing other teams. A special thanks, goes out to Bill Charlock (who won MVP of the team), Michael Allen, Anthony Torres, Michael Algarin, Pat Smith, Paul Mastromano, Matt Crichton, Matt Perry, Sean Koch, Chris Blumb, Susanne Hughs and T.J. Kirkland.

Shown in the photo, Lindenhurst's High School's Robotics Club Robot took fourth place in the recent regional competition.
