BabylonVillage Arts Council
by Rose Ann and Bob Norman co-Presidents BVAC

Last month's Second Thursday event, which was hosted at Astoria Federal Saving Bank , was an overwhelming success. Over 50 community members gathered to enjoy the swing music of the "Blue Vipers of Brooklyn". The music lovers sang along with the musicians. Mark your calendar for July 25. The Third Annual Bay Fest, a joint community event with BVAC and Babylon Rotary, will be held at Village Pool. This year's music line up includes Little Toby Walker, Red Molly, and the Boys and Girls Steel Drum Band from Bellport. Featured Long Island artists include watercolorist Kathy Herzy, watercolorist Bill Kuchler, photographer Lonna Sullivan, photographer Denise Matzen, marine wildlife artist Dave Baroncelli, and Peter Varga, the Paper Cutter. Rosemary Romeo and Rosemary Back will demonstrate the art of jewelry making, utilizing materials from the Great South Bay. All artists have donated original works of art for this year's raffle. Come and celebrate living on the Great South Bay. More details will be forthcoming.

The Poets on the Porch series will resume this summer, featuring Long Island poets. A classical music program is planned for mid August.

BVAC , a not-for- profit organization , supports the arts in the Babylon Village community. Membership contribution and donations help BVAC carry out its mission in bringing the arts to the Babylon community. Stop by BVAC's display window located on Main Street at Norton & Siegel for information on upcoming events and featured artists.
