Irene Grover: resident of Bay Shore and hospital volunteer

Irene Grover, who lived in Bay Shore for 56 years, died May 25, 2007. She was 83 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Bay Shore in 1951 after marrying. She worked for Macy's in Bay Shore for 35 years and was longtime volunteer at South Side Hospital in Bay Shore.

According to her son, Bill, she was a wonderful mother who loved to garden and spend time with her family.

Mrs. Grover leaves behind her children: Bill, Mary Ellen "Mimi," Liz and Nancy; her grandchildren: Jaclynn, Christopher, Elizabeth and Victoria; and her sister, Helen Lynch. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Paul.

A funeral service was held at the Overton Funeral Home, 172 Main Street, Islip, on May 31, 2007 followed by private cremation.
