Local chefs aid BBCC 'Cause' in their annual fund raiser

More than 16 chefs came together at the Venetian Yacht Club on May 9 to prepare an epicureans made-in-heaven feast. The occasion was the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition's ninth annual Chefs for a Cause fundraiser where more than 300 guests assembled to sample the individually prepared specialties.

Each of the chefs from local restaurants and bakeries provided such culinary delights as steamed mussels in fresh thyme and chardonnay broth, horseradish crusted halibut, Caribbean coconut chicken, pollo delle campagne and a sampling of desserts including St. Gallen Kloster torte.

Participating the in the benefit were Argyle Grill & Tavern, Babylon Village Meat Market, Clare Michael Gourmet Chocolates, Cool Water Grill, Desserts by Lurdes Mason, Emerson's Restaurant, Glen's Dinette, Horace & Sylvia's, Cafe Il Villaggio, Lucy's, Lynda's Eat Well & Be Well, Madame Butterfly Cakes, The Hook, Milk & Sugar, Post Office Cafe, Torta Fina Bake Shoppe and the Venetian Yacht Club. Also represented were a number of beverage distributors and entertainers.

The funds raised at the event will help support the various programs sponsored by BBCC. They include Lend a Helping Hand, an out-patient ser- vice program that provides for the needs of those undergoing breast cancer treatment. The Gift of Health and Inspiration offers informational material helpful to those under stress while encountering diagnosis and treatment. A number of other BBCC programs designed to aid women subjected to the various phases of breast cancer are also aided through the funding from Chefs for a Cause.
