Village of Babylon resident named chair for philanthropy day 2007 by AFPLI
Village of Babylon Resident Charles D. Kimpel, CFRE, senior partner of Philanthropic Consulting Service, has been named Chair of Philanthropy Day 2007 by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Long Island (AFPLI). As chair, Kimpel oversees all aspects of the day-long conference, to be held this year on Friday, November 16 at the Long Island Marriot in Uniondale. Philanthropy Day 2007 brings together fundraisers, business leaders, volunteers, board members, philanthropists and activists who gather to recognize achievements, attend workshops, network and celebrate the contributions of fundraisers to the Long Island community.
"Charles is an example of the impact that professional fundraisers can have on the community, and we are delighted to have his leadership and guidance for Philanthropy Day 2007," said James Rennert, CFRE, President of AFPLI and Province Director of Development for the Cenacle Sisters. "Charles is a seasoned professional who brings many years of experience, knowledge and insight to this very important annual event."
Kimpel has brought his fundraising expertise to many large national not-for-profits, including The National Foundation-March of Dimes, The Deafness Research Foundation and Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. For many years he was affiliated with the American City Bureau, the nation's oldest fundraising counseling firm, where he was responsible for more than 40 capital campaigns, among many other fundraising programs. An author and lecturer, Kimpel has participated in numerous training programs for local, regional and national organizations. He has served on the faculty of the George Williams College Planned Giving Institute, as an adjunct faculty member of Long Island University, and is a frequent speaker, panelist and organizer of Philanthropy Day activities throughout the nation.
Kimpel has been married to Elaine for 22 years and they are avid world travelers.
