Babylon student top chef in regional competition
Babylon High School senior Dana-Marie Dantone has won first place in the Culinary Arts Regional Competition for New York State Area 6 (Long Island), sponsored by Skills USA. She is a student in the Culinary Arts Program at Wilson Tech. Her entry of duck with raspberry sauce was judged "best" by three Long Island chefs, based on taste and presentation. Dana, shown with Douglas Guerra, a second place winner in Video Production at the regional competition, is pictured with Babylon guidance counselors Suzanne Murphy and Steve Vaccaro.
Dantone's first place win qualifies her for the state-wide competition in Syracuse next month. She hopes to attend a college culinary arts program after graduation from Babylon.
