Carol Brown, longtime Macy's employee Carol Brown, a longtime resident of Carle Place and the mother of Dr. Jonathan and Mrs. Sue Wigderson of Indiana, formerly of Lindenhurst, died Tuesday, May 29 following a brief illness. She was 64-years-old. Her son and daughter-in-law are former Brunswick Hospital Center employees. Ms. Brown was born in Manhattan and lived there as well as New Jersey and Queens before moving to Carle Place. She was employed with Macy's Department Store for many years as a department manager and was also involved in the coordination of the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, according to her son. "She was a single mother and raised me alone," said her son. "She always made it clear that she loved me and worked very hard to give me everything and put me through school." This year, before she got sick, she was working on the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade and had planned to put her twin grandchildren on the float with Santa Claus said her family. "She was a feisty woman who would give you the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it," said her friend and coworker, Pat Tancora. "She was warm and personable." Ms. Brown loved to read, enjoyed working on crafts and gardening. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law Sue (nee Nelson), Ms. Brown is survived by her grandchildren Jonathan and Courtney.
Services for Ms. Brown were held at New Montefiore Cemetery Thursday, May 31.
