Police make arrest in local bank robberies A 46-year-old Bay Shore man convinced that police were on his trail and ready to arrest him, turned himself in Saturday in connection with two local bank robberies. The subject, is charged with robbing the Washington Mutual Bank brach at 733 Sunrise Highwy, West Babylon, May 30 and the Chase Bank branch at 1948 Deer Park Ave., Deer Park on June 1. In both robberies, Hayes gave tellers notes demanding cash and stated that he had a gun. Major Case Investigations Unit detectives had been actively searching for Hayes this week.
