BSD students win awards at Science Congress

Ten students represented the science department recently at the Long Island Science Congress and all ten received outstanding awards, reports teacher Steven Silipo. In addition, Pamela DuPre' and James Quigley, pictured individually were selected to attend the New York State Science Congress in Albany in June. This invitation, to present their research in the state capital, is especially significant as only 12 students were chosen from the entire Long Island region.

Ten Babylon students who were presented with awards at the Science Congress are Carolyn Koch, Jonathan Olsen, Pamela DuPre', Lillian Helling, Jonathan Amdur, John Anderson, James Quigley, Elizabeth Zitvogal, Sara Grosser and Emily Moran.

Science Director Richard Vultaggio extended his congratulations to the students for their performance in this prestigious competition and to the members of the Science Department, including Patrick Donaldson, Mary Beth Malone and Mr. Silipo for serving as mentors to these young scientists.
