Lindenhurst High School regatta fun
In early January, Lindenhurst High School engineering Lindenhurst teacher Lou Caso set out some "regatta fun" to show that engineering can be fun. Working with Assistant Principal Al Cirone, Caso's two classes divided up into nine teams for a "race to end all races." Using the laws of floatation that the students were taught, each team set out to make boats.
The rules included: using corrugated cardboard, seven to 10 feet long, no sealants and no surfboards.
The race was from one end of the pool to the other and the boat that lasts the longest wins. "Some of the boats didn't make it, but we did our best, exclaimed Frank, the Team A leader. "And we had a lot of fun."
