Babylon resident awarded Graduate Fellowship
Rob Dvorak, a Babylon Village resident, has been awarded the prestigious National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. This grant carries a three-year full tuition scholarship to the graduate institution of the student's choice plus a significant monetary award. Dvorak has selected the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to further his studies. Dvorak graduates Webb Institute where he has been ranked number one since his freshman year. At Webb, a highly selective full scholarship college, students are immersed in the study of Naval architecture and Marine engineering. Throughout his tenure, he has completed internships with private and governmental concerns. Such positions have taken him to Baltimore, Honolulu, Washington DC and Houston. Though offered positions with many of these firms, he will return to industry after the completion of his higher degree.
Additionally, he has been distinguished with the highest award given by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and the American Society of Naval Engineers each accompanied by a scholarship which follows the student to the school of his choice. Dvorak's senior thesis, Investigation of Trimaran Interference Effects, has been recognized as being in the prize-worthy category by his professors. Before beginning at MIT this fall, Dvorak will tour Europe with fellow Webbies.
