West Islip Board of Ed praises new enrichment program

At a recent Board of Education meeting, the West Islip Board of Education publicly praised the students and teachers participating in the district's new WISE (West Islip Schoolwide Enrichment) Program, led by Vivian Hollinger and Judith Schwartz. The elementary school children were introduced to the audience as they were presented with certificates of achievement (pictured) by Board President and Vice President George Smith and Barbara McAteer and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Beth Virginia Blau, for their accomplishments in the Geography Bee and Mock Trial Competition. Honored were Stadler Thompson, Kristin Gatto, Sydney Matone, Joseph Rushton, Nicole Berardi, Eric Barasch, Craig Nelson, Eric Harris, Amanda Quinn, Vincent Cramer, Michael Carboni, Caitlin Cosentino, Zachary Mike, Sean McShane, Christopher Hering, Maria Hadjichristoforou, Shazeen Afzal, Lilyan Guastella, Nicholas Capone, Liam Nowakowski, Gabriella Minicozzi, Victoria Koffsky, Sarah Sutton, and Christina Regan. Shown with them are teacher Ms. Hollinger (center, rear), coach Rich Thompson, and student assistant Kasey Papa.

The WISE Program is designed to enhance and enrich students' skills and the curriculum at the elementary level.
